Do you know how Russian home cooking is like?? 

I didn't have any clue even what is Russian cuisine like...

There is a beautiful Russian restaurant called Mari Vanna which opened in Knightsbridge. 

Once you enter the room, you'll see selection of pretty candle stands, crockery shelf, chairs, chandeliers... I can guarantee you'll feel like a little kid who entered grandmother's attic or just open the treasure box. This restaurant brings you that kind of excitement feeling.

I've started with a carafe of vodka with some russian friends, picking some vegetable pickles and bread like a proper Russian. 

After several shots of vodka, when I started to feel a bit tipsy we've received our starter. 

I've ordered a beetroot salad. 

It was delicious. 

Our Russian friends were also impressed with the quality of that salad. She said "it tastes like back home", such a compliment!! We continued drinking and eating.... 

Even for newly opened restaurant, we could not feel it was. Staffs were so kind and well confident,  every dish was really tasty and vodka... God, we had a good time. We could relax there without worrying about anything. 

This iconic decor adding really nice spice into the restaurant and the whole experience. 

I love this place already and I really want to try their afternoon tea!!

And do not leave this place without go to toilet!! 

Funny enough, everybody felt quite tipsy at the beginning of the dinner on empty stomach, but we left or during the meal we never felt any alcohol effect! It was magic!!

伝統的なロシア料理って、想像がつきます?
私は、ロシア料理っていうものがそもそもどういう物なのか、殆ど知りませんでした。
最近Knightsbridgeに出来たのが、家庭的なロシア料理のレストラン、Mari Vanna。

一旦店内に入ると、ロウソク立て、食器棚や椅子、シャンデリア等が目を引きます。
男女関係なく、小さい時に夢見た古い屋根裏部屋とか、おばあちゃんの家にある、なんだか細々した宝物を見ているような、わくわくする気分になる事間違い無しです。

私達がまずお願いしたのはウォッカ。
ロシア人の友人と共に、ウォッカを飲みながら、野菜の漬け物とパンをかじり、なんだかもうロシア人になって来た気分!!(単純…。)
既に何杯もウォッカのショットを頂いていたのもあり、（日本酒みたいに、ちびりちびりとやる文化は無いみたいです）ちょっと良い気分になって来たなぁ、と言う時にちょうど前菜が到着。
私が頂いたのは、赤かぶのサラダ。
とても美味しかったです。
友人のロシア人達も、このサラダの質にはびっくり。“これぞ母の味”だとか。最高の褒め言葉!その後も、そのまま飲んで食べての夜になりました。
こんなに出来立てのレストランで、何にも心配せずにリラックス出来たのは久しぶり。
ウェイトレスもとても親切で、それでいて自信もあり、お料理もとても美味しく、そして、そうそうウォッカ…最高でした。

この伝統的な装飾やインテリアが、また何とも言えない味を醸し出していて、素敵な時間を過ごせる事間違い無しです。
朝から、夜遅くまで営業しているので、次回は、ぜひアフタヌーンティーに行ってみたい。
それから、是非お手洗いを覗いてみてください。とても素敵です。
