It was the second day after annual closing, so we could visited brand new show rooms. Glenkinchie is probably not very well known whiskey producer. I think one of the biggest reason is 90% of their production are transfer to blend whiskey distilleries.
I was very shocked when I've heard that. Same thing happens for the sake industry but I feel a bit sad every time I hear about this system from producers.
3日目のスコットランド、私達はエディンバラの市内から車で30分程のところにある、Glenkinchieというウイスキーの蒸留場へ見学に行きました。前日、改装工事が終わったという事もあり、どこもかしこもピカピカ。Glenkinchieと聞いて、あまりピンと来る人はいないかもしれません。生産されたウイスキーの90％がブレンド用になるそう。かなりの割合がブレンドになるとは、ショックでした。日本酒で言うと、桶買いと言いますが、日本酒でも、ウイスキーでも、せっかく作った作品が他のものにブレンドされると聞いただけでも、残念な思いがしてなりません。
We had very nice lunch at the local pub called Hobgoblin that was recommended by Gill from Glenkinchie.
蒸留場の見学を終えた後はGlenkinchieのGill がお勧めしてくれたHobgoblinというパブへ。この辺りに2件あるパブのうちの1つです。
Last night in Edinburgh, we had dinner at "the witchery at the castle".
The restaurant was really classic and beautiful. We had view of massive castle just out side and guess what, its started to snow... It was such a incredible atmosphere... We enjoyed the lovely food, dessert, wine and service.
エディンバラ最後の夜、私達は夕食をthe witchery at the castleで頂きました。
こちらのレストランは、とってもクラシックな内装で、とてもきれいでした。外にはすぐそこに巨大なエディンバラのお城が見える、特等席。
席についてしばらくすると、なんと雪がちらちらと。絶妙なタイミングに、そして贅沢な眺めにレストラン全体が素敵な雰囲気に包まれました。お料理も、デザートも、それからサービスも、良かったです。
